Photo: Pixabay. St. Joseph is mentioned by the evangelists Matthew and Luke. According to both Gospels, Joseph is a descendant of David: a link between David's royal family and the Messiah. He was a man of faith and trust, knew the divine mysteries, a man of great silence. As the husband of the Virgin Mary, he took the place of the Father in Jesus. We do not know how long Joseph lived. Joseph is last mentioned during his Easter pilgrimage with twelve year old Jesus. Public veneration of St. Joseph started in the West only in the 14/15 centuries. The feast has been on the Roman calendar since 1621. Then Pope Pius IX. declared him the patron saint of the church in 1870.
Photo: Picabay. The New Testament emphasizes that God is primarily interested in a relationship with us based on obedience, loyalty, and truth. This means that we should strive to obey God's commands and live according to His will, rather than focusing on external rituals or offerings.

He demands faith from His listeners, without evidence and without conditions. Where He did not find faith, all He could do was "go"; then grace becomes judgment.
